Electroninks Incorporated provides materials, inks and products for consumer electronics devices, including their own consumer product line, CircuitScribe. Key products include particle-free silver, gold, and platinum conductive inks. Electroninks novel chemistries and formulation know-how is based on their brand of particle-free inks and pastes that can directly replace nanoparticle and flake-based metallic inks and films. Electroninks recently completed its Series B equity financing, including strategic investments by Applied Ventures, Merck KGaA Ventures, InQTel, strategic investors from Taiwan and Japan, and series A investor Bandgap Ventures.

Founded by Dr. Brett Walker and Dr. Melbs LeMieux, the Austin-based company’s solutions are based on its proprietary metal complex particle-free conductive metal inks and designed for applications in semiconductor packaging, consumer electronics, and medical devices. The company is the first to provide metal complex inks in silver, gold, platinum, nickel, and copper.

Electroninks has been a member of MDS-Rely since the center’s founding in July 2021.  Its inks are used in the “Machine Learning for EMI shielding” project to create light-weight electromagnetic interference shielding on complex and flexible substrates such as plastics and textiles for e-textiles and wearable electronics.  Dr. Melbs Lemieux says,

“This center has helped us find opportunities for applying to STTRs, recruiting graduate students, and connecting with other members interested in our inks.”

Dr. Brett Walker is CEO and co-founder of Electroninks, Inc. Walker is an experienced materials science and engineering professional who invented Electroninks’ proprietary metal complex ink technology while a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Illinois. After completing his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering in 2013, he completed a fellowship at Harvard University in the same year and founded Electroninks Incorporated while moving back to Illinois to start the company. It was here he met fellow co-founder, Melbs LeMieux.

Melbs LeMieux, Ph.D. is the co-founder and President of Electroninks, Inc. After receiving his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 2006 and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University,  LeMieux established himself as a materials science expert through various credible opportunities. Previously Senior Scientist at Exponent and former co-founder of C3 Nano, Inc., Melbs LeMieux and Brett Walker teamed up in 2013 to create Electroninks, Inc.
