Topic: Statistical and Stochastic Methods for MDS-Rely
Speaker: Professor Satish Iyengar (Pitt)
Abstract: I will talk about three topics. First, I will describe our department. Next, I will then describe the role of stochastic modeling in reliability studies, in particular, the use of diffusions such as Brownian motion and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes as underlying models that lead to useful models for failure times. Finally, I will talk about the use of small data sets along with response surface techniques to optimize processes.
