CMU Mill 19 Additive Manufacturing Facilities
Built on the 178-acre Hazelwood Green site, Mill 19 once served as the location of the Pittsburgh region’s most productive steel mills. Today, it is the headquarters for Carnegie Mellon University’s Manufacturing Futures Institute (MFI) and home to some of the most advanced manufacturing research being done in the U.S.CMU Robotics Innovation Center
CMU’s newly opened Robotics Innovation Center is a cutting-edge facility for research, development and testing of robotics technologies in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood Green site including capabilities such as a 6,000 sq. ft. drone cage and large underwater test tank. The facility serves as a hub of innovation in robotics, AI research, and the technology development life cycle, complementing the early stage robotics work of CMU’s School of Computer Science and College of Engineering and the late stage robotics development and deployment done at the National Robotics Engineering Center.
